A survey of instantaneous poles for a class of two-degree-of-freedom spherical mechanisms

Soheil ZARKANDI

Frontiers of Mechanical Engineering 2014, Volume 9, Issue 4,   Pages 344-353 doi: 10.1007/s11465-014-0320-z

Abstract: instantaneous poles (the ones which cannot be found by direct inspection) must lie on the specified greatcircles. For many of these mechanisms, however, some of these great circles cannot be obtained by a direct applicationThis paper presents geometrical and analytical techniques to locate these unknown great circles for three

Therapeutic effect of medical glue combined with the great omentum in severe tunica muscularis injury

REN Peitu, LU Baochun, RUAN Xinxian, CHEN Zhiliang, MA Yuliang, FU Hong

Frontiers of Medicine 2008, Volume 2, Issue 2,   Pages 143-146 doi: 10.1007/s11684-008-0027-9

Abstract: Twenty-seven patients with severe colon trauma treated in the Shaoxing People’s Hospital from 1995 to 2006 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients with severe tunica muscularis injury were treated by medical glue combined with the greater omentum during operations. The initial result was encouraging. All patients were cured with no anastomotic leakage or abscess. Therefore, reasonable use of medical glue combined with the greater omentum can not only improve the curative rate but also reduces postoperative complications for patients with colon injury.

Establishing Profiles for Systems Engineering Standards: A Great Help for Companies to Manage Their Processes

Rui Xue,Claude Baron,Philippe Esteban,Qiang Zhang

Frontiers of Engineering Management 2014, Volume 1, Issue 3,   Pages 297-303 doi: 10.15302/J-FEM-2014036

Abstract: In this paper, we discuss how to establish profiles of system engineering standards for companies. To define an appropriate system engineering standard for a company, this paper presents a detailed comparison between the current releases of the main system engineering sta-ndards (ANSI/ EIA-632, ISO/IEC-15288 and IEEE-1220), and explains how to choose the most adapted one according to the company practices. When no standard completely corresponds, the paper illustrates how to elaborate a tailor-made standard on the basis of specific required characteristics of the company or of the project, following a multi-standard approach, leading to extend and adapt a sta-ndard by importing some elements from another.

Tu Yuanji

Strategic Study of CAE 2002, Volume 4, Issue 2,   Pages 1-7

Abstract:

Qian Xuesen´s life-time is reviewed in this article and his excellent character and behaviour that are benefited from good family breeding and school education are highly praised. His brilliant talent and plentiful attainments after receiving his training under Theodore von Kármán in the United States are introduced. The article describes, with host of facts that are rarely known, Qian´s unrelenting struggle for returning homeland and the contributions he made with all his heart to China´s space undertaking after he returned to China. Finally, the article reveals Qian´s lofty ideological level and virtuous character towards money, honour and position.

Satellite ocean exploration of space in China

Jiang Xingwei,Lin Mingsen,Liu Jianqiang

Strategic Study of CAE 2008, Volume 10, Issue 6,   Pages 56-62

Abstract:

This article reviews the developing tendency about the ocean exploration technology on the satellite remote sensing and its effect on the oceanic science. It looks back the developed status on the ocean satellite remote sensing technology, compares the domestic ocean remote sensing technology with overseas status simply and gives their differences. It presents the developing key technology in 2007—2020 years about our country's application technology on satellite ocean remote sensing. The first developing keystone about ocean remote sensing is to launch subsequence HY-1 satellite and HY-2 satellite. The satellite application will be stress on monitoring the ocean disaster such as red tide, overflow oil, water quality and sea ice etc. It is to table a proposal and policy about developing the application technology on the satellite remote sensing in our country.

Lessons learnt from the great Sichuan Wenchuan Earthquake

Xie Lili

Strategic Study of CAE 2009, Volume 11, Issue 6,   Pages 28-35

Abstract:

This paper presents the major lessons learnt from the recently occurred devastating earthquake of May 12, 2008 in the Wenchuan County, Sichuan Province. It discussed some bottle-neck questions existing in the current earthquake disaster prevention work of the China, such as low quality construction in both rural and town area, seismic hazard assessment and seismic zoning, earthquake induced geological hazard, and earthquake prediction etc., and pointed out that the civil engineering prevention method is the best choice for the solution of reducing earthquake losses and mitigating earthquake disasters.
